What stands out on paper
- Size and weight. At 10.6 oz it’s very small, though Transcend’s Micro 510 manual lists an even lighter 0.49 lb (about 7.9 oz). Compare others in best travel CPAP machines.
- Full auto algorithms. It runs ResMed’s AutoSet and AutoSet for Her, the same mode names as the AirSense 11.
- Low power draw. 6.3 W typical makes battery planning easier (CPAP battery power). The user guide doesn’t describe an internal battery.
- Waterless humidity. HumidX cartridges replace a water tub. ResMed says HumidX Plus adds humidity in dry conditions, at altitude or on a plane, and both must be replaced within 30 days of opening.
Limitations from the documents
| Limitation | Detail |
|---|---|
| Mask choice | Setup packs are for the AirFit F20, AirFit N20 and AirFit P10 for AirMini; check ResMed’s compatibility list for others |
| Tubing | Proprietary 16 mm outlet, “not compatible with EN ISO 5356-1 connectors” |
| Humidity | HumidX works only with the N20 and P10 connectors, not the F20 |
| No screen | Comfort settings and data come through the app |
| Altitude | 8,500 ft, lower than the AirSense 11’s 9,870 ft |
| Warranty | 2 years, first buyer only, void outside the region of purchase (buying online or used) |
Flying with it
ResMed says the AirMini meets FAA requirements for all phases of air travel, and compliance letters can be downloaded from ResMed.com. On board: enter airplane mode by holding the Bluetooth button for at least ten seconds (light turns white), and don’t use the app. Airlines’ carry-on policies vary.
Who it’s for
| Good fit | Look elsewhere |
|---|---|
| Frequent flyers wanting a small auto CPAP | You need a heated water humidifier every night |
| AirFit N20, P10 or F20 users | You use a mask outside ResMed’s compatibility list |
| Campers planning low-power setups | You need altitude above 8,500 ft |
Verdict
On paper, the AirMini is a serious travel machine: ResMed’s AutoSet algorithms, 4–20 cmH2O, 10.6 oz and FAA compliance. The costs are the proprietary tubing, a short mask list and waterless-only humidity. Its $919 price is above the Transcend Micro 510 ($829). Buy it as a second, travel machine if you already use a compatible ResMed mask.
