The “auto” question
Transcend’s product page calls the Micro 510 an “Auto CPAP” with “auto-adjusting pressure”. The performance table in the Micro 510 manual we downloaded from that page lists “Ventilator Mode: CPAP”, with a note that Ramp and AirRelief “do not represent separate ventilation modes”. We can’t resolve that from the documents. If you need auto-adjusting pressure (APAP vs CPAP), ask Transcend or your prescriber to confirm before buying.
Strengths on paper
- Lightest we’ve documented: 0.49 lb, lighter than the AirMini (10.6 oz).
- Battery option: the PowerAway battery attaches directly (CPAP battery power).
- Longer warranty than the AirMini: 3 years vs ResMed’s 2.
- Data: the MySleepDash app for therapy data.
Limitations
| Limitation | Detail |
|---|---|
| Mode ambiguity | See above |
| Humidity | HME only; no heated humidifier |
| Altitude | 8,000 ft, lower than the AirMini (8,500 ft) |
| Warranty | Non-transferable; void outside the country of purchase |
| Sound | The standards-based figure (31 dBA) is higher than the 27 dBA in marketing |
Flying
The manual says it meets FAA requirements (RTCA/DO-160 section 21, category M). Check your airline’s carry-on and in-flight power policy before you fly.
Verdict
From the documents, the Micro 510 is the lightest and cheapest of the two main travel CPAPs we track, with a battery option and a 3-year warranty. The mode question is the key issue: if your prescription is for auto-adjusting pressure, get written confirmation that this unit provides it. For a confirmed auto machine, compare the ResMed AirMini.
