This guide is written from Alberta.ca’s AADL benefits covered and AADL cost sharing pages, read on 14 October 2026.
What AADL covers
AADL’s list of benefits includes oxygen and respiratory equipment and supplies. Alberta notes that respiratory equipment might not be new.
No cost-share for respiratory benefits
Most AADL benefits have a cost-share: clients pay 25% of the cost up to $500 per family per benefit year (1 July to 30 June). Alberta says respiratory benefits do not have a cost-share requirement.
How you get it
- A health professional carries out a clinical assessment and decides what equipment and supplies you can get through AADL.
- An AADL authorizer gives you a list of up to three approved vendors.
- You get the equipment from one of those vendors.
You are responsible for reasonable care of AADL-supplied equipment, and for replacing equipment that is lost, stolen or damaged through misuse.
What we could not confirm
Section R of the AADL Program Manual sets out respiratory benefits in detail, including any oxygen thresholds and whether CPAP is covered. We could not download it, so this guide doesn’t give AADL’s medical criteria or CPAP rules. Ask your authorizer.
