Check it is on the ARTG

Medical devices supplied in Australia must be included on the TGA’s Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods (ARTG). Rapid Medical prints the ARTG number in the Secure Plus listing; for other models, ask the seller or search the ARTG yourself. See TGA rules.

GST

Oxygen concentrators are listed in Schedule 3 of the GST Act, so they can be sold and hired GST-free. See GST-free CPAP and oxygen.

Electricity

A concentrator counts as life support equipment for your electricity company, which gives you protections against disconnection and notice of planned outages. In NSW, the Social Programs for Energy Code (version 8.4, from 24 August 2026) sets the Life Support Rebate for a concentrator at $3.1096 a day for 24-hour use (about $1,135 a year) and $1.8493 a day for less than 24 hours (about $675 a year).
